AMTRAK
(800-872-7245) serves New York City to Montreal with a daily stop in
Fort Edward, about 45 minutes from Chestertown. Limited car rentals,
taxis (Lake George Taxi Co.: 518-668-9600), and Glens Falls Transit
system buses are available at the station. Unless you have arranged in
advance for transportation from this more remote location, however, we
recommend that you get off at Rensselaer/Albany (800-872-7245) and pick
up a limousine service or a rental car (shuttle service to car rental
locations in Albany is available throughout the day). |

Greyhound
(518-793-5052) maintains a regular schedule to the Lake George area.
Adirondack Trailways (518-793-5525) makes stops in neighboring
Warrensburg, Lake George, and Chestertown once daily for both north and
south-bound trips. You may arrange for transportation to and from
Chestertown with one of our reservationists. |

South of Albany (4 1/2 hours from NYC) |

Exit NY Thruway at
Exit 24 Albany and take Exit 1N (after the toll) to I-87 North (the
Adirondack "Northway"). After about an hour drive take Exit 25
(Chestertown/Brant Lake). Make a LEFT off of the exit ramp onto Route 8
West. Travel 3.5 miles on Route 8 and make a LEFT turn onto Friends
Lake Road. Bear right at the fork in the road, then make a right at the
next intersection (the continuation of Friends Lake Road) and continue
8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn. The Inn will be on your right. |

Turn right onto
Route 9, proceed to blinking light and turn left onto County Route 11.
Follow Route 11 to I-87 North. Take I-87 to Exit 25. At the end of the
exit ramp, turning left onto Route 8 west. Travel 3.5 miles on Route 8
and make a left turn onto Friends Lake Road. Bear right at the fork in
the road, then make a right at the next intersection (the continuation
of Friends Lake Road) and continue 8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake
Inn. The Inn will be on your right. |

Albany (1 1/2 hours) |

Take I-87 North to
Exit 25. Make a left off of the exit ramp onto Route 8 West. Travel 3.5
miles on Route 8 and make a left turn onto Friends Lake Road. Bear
right at the fork in the road, then make a right at the next
intersection (the continuation of Friends Lake Road) and continue
8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn. The Inn will be on your right. |

Rutland, Vt. and Points East (1 1/2 hours) |
|
Travel 25 miles on
4W to Whitehall, NY. In Whitehall, turn left onto 4S, go approximately
10 miles and turn right onto Route 149, travel to the end of Route 149
(about 20 miles) and turn left onto Route 9. Follow signs to I-87 North
and proceed to Exit 25. Make a left off of the exit ramp onto Route 8
West. Travel 3.5 miles on Route 8 and make a left turn onto Friends
Lake Road. Bear right at the fork in the road, then make a right at the
next intersection (the continuation of Friends Lake Road) and continue
8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn. The Inn will be on your right. |

Buffalo and Points West (5 hours) |

Travel east on New
York State Thruway to Exit 33 (Rome, Route 365). Turn right onto Route
365 and follow until you reach Route 8. Turn left onto Route 8 and
proceed for about one hour. After you pass the Loon Lake Dam (on your
left) turn right on to Friends Lake Road. Bear right at the fork in the
road, then make a right at the next intersection (the continuation of
Friends Lake Road) and continue 8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn.

Take US Interstate
87 South to Exit 25. Turn right onto Route 8 West. Travel 3.5 miles on
Route 8 and make a left turn onto Friends Lake Road. Bear right at the
fork in the road, then make a right at the next intersection (the
continuation of Friends Lake Road) and continue 8/10ths of a mile to
Friends Lake Inn. The Inn will be on your right. |

Take Massachusetts
Turnpike to New York State Thruway (I-90). Proceed north on the Thruway
to Exit 24 and take I-87 North to Exit 25 (Chestertown). Make a left
off of the exit ramp onto Route 8 West. Travel 3.5 miles on Route 8 and
make a left turn onto Friends Lake Road. Bear right at the fork in the
road, then make a right at the next intersection (the continuation of
Friends Lake Road) and continue 8/10ths of a mile to Friends Lake Inn.
